Fun Friday - Things Lost During Menopause

I will NOT take the heat for all menopausal women, literally and figuratively speaking. This list of things lost during menopause did not all come from me. I had help. The people around me called family, feel they have become experts on the signs and symptoms of menopause. They often give unsolicited comments. And other menopausal women have also contributed.

Here’s our list of things lost during menopause:

1.      Ability to stay awake past 9pm – my son said I lost this ability long ago (this is one of those unsolicited comments). Quite often I put up a fight to stay awake past 8pm quite often I lose the battle.

2.      Bladder control – yep, bladder control goes bye, bye. A menopausal woman can sneeze, laugh or cough and experience a little leakage.

3.      Your mind – I hope you like rollercoaster rides because your emotions can be similar to a rollercoaster ride. They go up, down and in circles. Some women have said they feel like they’re losing their mind.

There are also things gained during menopause
1.      The ability to fall asleep anywhere – it could be during a meeting after your body has been in a state of stillness for ten minutes.

2.      An opportunity to redefine who you are – celebrate this new chapter in your life.
You gain a new tribe of friends who sympathize with whether or not they experience menopausal symptoms

While this list is just for fun, not all women experience all symptoms of menopause. The lucky ones have minimal symptoms or no problems at all. No matter what difficulties you may be going through, remain faithful.

What would you add to the list of things lost during menopause? It could be something you’ve heard someone else say.
